Welcome to the homepage for The South West Competitive Obedience Group (SWCOG)
The Group relies on a small committee to arrange the events we hold and take care of the administration tasks which need to be carried out for the SWCOG to comply with the Kennel Club’s regulations regarding listed club status.
Our committee members all own and train dogs, competing at all levels of Competitive Obedience. We all believe positive is best, so all our dogs are trained by means of positive reinforcement and marker training.
We have around 50 members now, and the £1 membership we charge allows us to not only register with the Kennel Club but to arrange training opportunities for our members. We aim to provide at least two training “show” days a year, where members can train and share ideas, we also organise guest trainers when we can. All the events we have previously hosted have been well attended and this allows us to plan future events. Events are primarily organised for our members, however we do very often have a few spaces for non-members (at a slightly higher fee), so contact us if in doubt.
The most important date on our calendar is our two day open obedience show which is held in July each year.
New members are always welcome, if you live in the South West of England, you can join HERE
